Energy Program - Hightlights

The Gateway Natural Gas Program for Villages of Nassau County, New York

Benefits Overview

Villages of Nassau County that enroll in the Gateway Energy Services /Village Program could substantially reduce operating costs associated with natural gas. Savings could be seen for all village-owned and/or operated facilities that use natural gas based on the revenue generated from this program.

Participating independent businesses and residences located within the enrolled village could also see cost savings associated with their use of natural gas. Elements of this program include:

• A Facilitator’s Fee of $10 paid by Gateway Energy to the participating village for each village facility and every business that enrolls with Gateway Energy Services( formerly Econnergy) as its natural gas provider. In addition, Gareway Energy will pay a Facilitator’s Fee of $6 for each residence that enrolls for its natural gas service. These fees would be paid to the village after the applicant has been in the program for 3 months.

• Enrolled businesses and residences will receive a highly competitive variable rate plan. Gateway Energy Servuces variable rates have been lower than KeySpan’s rates in 9 of the last 10 months. In one month out of the ten, Gateway Energy matched KeySpan’s rate.

• Enrolled businesses and residences will receive a 10% rebate on their highest month’s gas supply bill after 12 months of service with Gateway Energy. A check will be sent directly to them.

• Enrolled businesses will not pay a sales tax (up to 8.75%) on the KeySpan delivery charge, and will benefit from the 1.9 cent/therm Merchant Function Backout Credit.

• The NCVOA will receive a benefit of 1 cent per therm used by accounts enrolled through the program, which will be shared with the village (1/2 cent/therm each).

Enrollment

Our past experience with Gateway Energy shows that villages have benefited from similar programs and that businesses and residents appreciate their village’s efforts, and support this method of generating revenue to influence a possible reduction in taxes.
